Pictured here is my paternal grandfather, Robert "Olin" Ferrer, taken at the Paris Inn in Los Angeles, California. Olin enlisted in WWII on March 11, 1942. In this photo he has his First Sargeant Patch, therefore, I can safely assume this was taken post war.
Olin was stationed in the Philippines and my father remembers that he shipped out from a port in San Francisco. Research shows that soldiers fighting in the Philippines campaign were shipped to the islands through the Port of Embarkation in San Francisco, CA or the Oakland Army Terminal in Oakland, CA. My father and I are guessing this is why Olin was in Los Angeles.
