John Brannock is my 2nd great grandfather. He was born to Franklin Alexander Brannock and Elizabeth Sarah (Harty) Brannock.
On August 24, 1921, at the age of 19, John "Posey" married Lillian "Lilly" Bernice Hanf.
Mary Elizabeth Brannock 17 May 1922 - 12 April 1999
Kathryn Louise Brannock 5 December 1923 - March 1996
Vera Mae Brannock 18 January 1926

Taken at their home at 897 Brower Memphis, TN.
John and his family lived in Cape Girardeau where he worked at the International Shoe Company. Sometime after 1930, John sold his home and moved to Washington, Missouri, where he again worked for the International Shoe Company. His wife, Lilly, and his daughter Mary also worked at the shoe factory (many of their friends and family worked there too).
Mary Brannock is in the 4th row of this photo. |
In the first row are Fritz Filla and Marcie Filla. |
During the early to mid 1940's, John, Lillian, Kathryn, and Vera Mae left for Memphis. Mary was left behind in Washington (which worked out very well for me, but more on that at a later date), and John took a job as a shipping clerk for Forest Hills Dairy.
Sometime later, John worked for the Memphis Furniture Company. I believe this is where he retired from.
John and Lilly were married for 50 years. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Memphis.
Here are a few snapshots of Posey and Lilly.
This photo is of Carol Lee, Betty Rae, John, and Cheryl Ann.
Carol, Betty, and Cheryl are the daughters of John's first born, Mary. Cheryl is my mother.
Here is another photo taken on the same day of Posey and Lilly.
Here are two photos of John taken with my Grandfather, Walter J. Filla, husband of Mary Elizabeth Brannock.

When I ask my mom about her Grandpa Brannock, she remembers that he claimed to have once been an umpire and an "actor on the stage."
Wow! So glad I checked back in! These are great!
